Kuratas, a diesel-powered mecha (walking) robot measuring 4 m (13 ft) tall and weighing 3.62 tonnes (8,000 lb), can be controlled by a “robot pilot” from inside the “cockpit” or operated remotely using a 3G smartphone. The robot was unveiled by inventor Kōgorō Kurata (Japan) at Wonder Festival in Tokyo, Japan, on 29 July 2012, and is available for a cool ¥100 million (£853,690; $1.3 million) from Suidobashi Heavy Industry (Japan).
