Rebecca “Becky” James (UK) made British cycling history with an unprecedented four medals – two gold and two bronze – at the 2013 UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) Track World Championships in Minsk, Belarus, on 20–24 February 2013. The 21-year-old from Abergavenny, Wales, led Great Britain to the top of the medals table by winning sprint and keirin gold medals on 23 and 24 February and team sprint (with Victoria Williamson) and 500 m time trial bronze medals on 20 and 21 February. Previously, Victoria Pendleton (UK) had won three medals at three consecutive Track World Championships, in 2007–09.
