In the 50 years since Matt Monro sang the theme to From Russia With Love in 1963, the release of an accompanying theme song has become an essential part of each James Bond movie, but Adele’s Skyfall (written by Adele & Paul Epworth) was the first Bond theme ever to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song, at the 85th awards ceremony in February 2013.
This award – along with an accompanying win for ‘Best Achievement in Sound Editing’ – mark the first Oscars to be won by the Bond franchise since 1965, when Thunderball collected an award for ‘Best Effects (special Video Effects)’.
