Opened in 2005, the New South China Mall in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, China, is the largest shopping mall by gross leasable area, with 600,153 m² (6.4 million ft²) of available retail space.
Although largely empty for a decade, in 2015 CNN reported that the mall was attracting new shops, restaurants and visitors, while most of the unoccupied units were being renovated.
