The X Factor, the reality TV music show devised by Simon Cowell (UK), has been broadcast in more than 40 territories worldwide since making its UK debut in 2004. Only one judge has mentored four series winners in the history of the competition. Morgan, aka Marco Castoldi (Italy), mentored Aram Quartet, Matteo Becucci and Marco Mengoni in the first three series (2008–09) of Italy’s X Factor – the most consecutive X Factor series won by a judge/mentor – and the chart-topping Chiara Galiazzo in the most recent (2012) Italian series. With music manager Louis Walsh (Ireland), Cowell shares the record for the most X Factor series appearances by a judge/mentor, with nine. Walsh, who mentored UK Series 2 (2005) winner Shayne Ward, has appeared on all nine UK series to date (2004-12), while Cowell was a judge/mentor on the first seven series in the UK (2004-10) and has starred in the first two series in the USA (2011-12).
