Highest penetration of high-definition television (HDTV)

According to Ofcom's (UK) 7th International Communications Market Report, the USA has the highest proportion of homes with high-definition television (HDTV), with 49% enjoying a hi-def service. The UK has an HDTV penetration of 41%, higher than Japan (31%), Germany (28%) and France (18%). The report, covering the last year of available data (2011) examines take-up, availability, price and use of broadband, landlines, mobiles, TV, radio and post across 17 major countries.
