The most sensitive animal organ is the star-shaped nose of the aptly named star-nosed mole Condylura cristata from the low wetlands of eastern North America. Its nose's surface is covered with 25,000 mechanoreceptors known as Eimer's organs, making it ultrasensitive to touch, and at least six times more sensitive than the human hand.
