The largest species of peafowl is the green peafowl Pavo muticus of southeast Asia. The male (peacock) is 1.8–3 m in total length, including its spectacular train or tail covert, which measures 1.4–1.6 m long. The largest male specimens may even conceivably be the longest wild birds alive today.
