The largest dinosaurian raptor (as distinct from avian raptors – i.e., birds of prey) was Utahraptor ostrommaysorum, which inhabited what is now Utah in the USA during the early Cretaceous Period 126 million years ago. Based upon specimens already scientifically described, it is believed to have attained a total length of up to 7 m and weigh a little under 500 kg, but there are some currently undescribed specimens awaiting scientific attention at Brigham Young University in the USA that may have measured up to 11 m long.
