The sauropod dinosaurs were long-necked, long-tailed, quadrupedal dinosaurs that included such famous examples as Diplodocus and Apatosaurus (formerly known as Brontosaurus). Many were enormous in size, but the smallest of all known sauropods was Ohmdenosaurus liasicus, which only measured approximately 4 m in length. It lived in Germany during the Early Jurassic Period, approximately 180 million years ago.
