The Russian Tupolev Tu-144S was the first supersonic airliner to crash. It suffered a catastrophic disintegration of the left wing at the Paris Air Show, Le Bourget, France on 3 June 1973. Six crew and eight people on the ground were killed. It was eventually withdrawn from service in 1978.
The Russian Tupolev Tu-144S was also the first production, supersonic, transport aircraft.
