The greatest winning margin in final of the European Championships is four goals, achieved by Spain when they beat Italy 4-0 at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine on 1 July, 2012. Spain’s goals were scored by David Silva, Jordi Alba, Fernando Torres and Juan Mata. In the 14 tournaments half of the finals have finished with only 1 goal difference, 4 games with a difference of 2 goals (one of which was a replay following a 1-1 draw in 1968); 2 draws with one match going to penalties; and finally a 3-0 victory over the Soviet Union by West Germany in 1972.
