The Perdido oil drilling and production platform is a spar platform with a cylindrical design in which most of the structure is underwater to provide stability. Operated by Shell, the platform was delivered to the Gulf of Mexico in August 2008 and is currently moored to the ocean floor in 2,438 m of water. Perdido began production of oil and gas on 31 March 2010.
