On 11 April 2011 offshore drilling company Transocean announced its ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 had successfully performed ocean bed oil drilling in 3,107 m of water off the Indian coast. The announcement came approximately one year after the ship began a five-year contract with the Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries. Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 has dynamic positioning and is rated to drill in up to 3,657.6 m of water.
