On 10 February 2008, between 6,000 and 8,000 masked members and supporters of the internet activist group Anonymous gathered in at least 90 cities worldwide as part of Project Chanology, a series of protests against the Church of Scientology. Live rickrolls were performed by protestors at centres owned by the church in at least seven cities.
