The first royal palace was the white-washed mud-brick or possibly limestone palace constructed during the 31st century BCE by Hor-Aha, the second pharaoh of the first dynasty, in Memphis, Egypt. At Abydos, Hor-Aha also had the outside of his tomb decorated to resemble a palace façade.
