The first zoo in the world to breed and successfully rear cheetahs Acinonyx jubatus was Whipsnade Zoo, near Dunstable in Bedfordshire, UK, in September 1967. This was when three cubs (named Jason, Jasmine and Jacaranda) were born to the zoo's resident cheetah pair, Juanita and Jack.
