Wong Ting Man, of Hong Kong, China, owns the world’s largest collection of instant cameras – that produce a finished, hard-copy photograph with no need for separate printing or processing. The most famous make of instant camera is the Polaroid. As of May 2011, Wong owned 1,042 instant cameras – a collection with a total worth estimated at HK$1 million (around £80,000). He began the collection in 1992, but it really took off with the advent of the internet and online auction sites. At its peak he was buying some 20 cameras a week – much to the chagrin of his wife, who refuses to have them in the house, forcing him to rent storage space in a disused factory.
