Creeper was written by Robert Thomas (USA) in 1971 while working for BBN Technologies. It was an experimental self-replicating program designed to demonstrate mobile applications. Creeper infected DEC PDP-10 computers and displayed the following message on the screens of infected computers: "I’m the creeper, catch me if you can!"
