The largest chigiri-e artwork is 72.9 m² (784 ft² 99 in²) and was achieved by Shunko Co., Ltd. (Japan) at Kobe Portopia Hotel in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan, on 2 February 2014.
Chigiri-e, a traditional Japanese art form, is created by usually hand-tearing and cutting rice paper (washi) into small pieces that are then glued to form a single piece of art. The artwork created during the attempt was a collaborative effort by more than 700 participants, which included teachers and students of chigiri-e schools run by Shunko. The artwork depicted sunflowers, hydrangea, Mt. Fuji among other images.
