Hurricane Faith formed on 21 August 1966 off the coast of West Africa. Over the next two weeks it travelled west towards the US coast and turned northeast before weakening on 6 September and passing over Scandinavia and the USSR. It had reached 62.5 degrees N, higher than any other tropical cyclone ever recorded. Faith also travelled 12,700 km, longer than any other Atlantic tropical cyclone and second only worldwide to Typhoon John in 1994.
