The first hybrid falcons bred in captivity were a clutch of viable hybrid chicks that resulted in 1971 in western Ireland after falconers Ronald Stevens and the Hon. John Morris housed a male saker falcon Falco cherrug with a female peregrine F. peregrinus in the same moulting mews for the spring and summer, not expecting them to mate.
