A theme park dedicated to the toilet opened in Suwon, South Korea, in July 2012. The Restroom Cultural Park surrounds a toilet-shaped home that once belonged to Sim Jae-duk, aka Mr Toilet, the former Mayor of Suwon and the founding president of the World Toilet Association. As of 27 November 2012, the free-to-enter park was attracting an average of 10,000 visitors per month keen to experience, among other exhibits, traditional Korean squat toilets, European bedpans and Marcel Duchamp's famous porcelain urinal sculpture "Fountain".

Sim Jae-duk was reportedly born in his impoverished grandmother's outhouse, and he established the World Toilet Association in 2002 in order to promote the importance of good sanitation and hygiene, as well as to celebrate the smallest room in the house.

The commode-inspired museum may be unique in shape but it is not the only toilet museum in the world: the Sulabh International Museum of Toilets opened in Delhi, India, also serves to celebrate the lavatory.
