When Joe Calzaghe (UK) retired from boxing he left the sport with the distinction of being the only boxer at that time to have held all four major versions of the world super-middleweight titles during his career. The respective titles are the WBO, IBF, WBC and WBA. Calzaghe won the vacant WBO crown on 11 October 1997 when he outpointed Chris Eubank over 12 rounds. In a unification contest on 4 March 2006 Calzaghe added the IBF crown when he outpointed American Jeff Lacey over the duration of 12 rounds. Joe later claimed the WBC and WBA championship when he outpointed Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler over 12 rounds on 3 November 2007.
