There are two taxonomic orders of sea anemones: Actiniaria, the true sea anemones, and Corallimorpharia, the coral-like sea anemones. The world's most toxic sea anemone is the matamalu Rhodactis howesii, a corallimorpharian native to the Samoan seas. Also called the giant mushroom anemone, its tissues contain a unique paralytic poison sufficiently toxic to kill humans who eat its flesh uncooked.
