The world's most venomous species of cobra is the Philippine cobra Naja philippinensis. Most common in the northern islands of the Philippines and up to 2 m long, this species' neurotoxin venom when injected into its prey by its venom fangs yields a subcutaneous LD50 (the dose required to prove lethal to 50% of mice injected with it) of 0.2 mg/kg, and 90–100 mg is the average yield of venom per bite.
