The first Wipeout (Psygnosis) came out in 1995, and more than 16 years later Wipeout 2048 (Studio Liverpool, 2012) was launched on the PS Vita. Wipeout has always been at the cutting edge of Sony’s technology, with Wipeout HD (Studio Liverpool, 2008) one of the first big-name games to be issued first as a download. Sci-fi racing competitor F-Zero (Nintendo) began in 1990 but the series has been on hiatus since 2004’s F-Zero: Climax (Suzak).
