Most bots banned in a week

Most, if not all, MMOs are plagued with “gold farmers” who use bots – software applications programmed to perform automated tasks – to collect in-game currency to be sold for cash. No developer has gone to as much effort to get rid of bots as RuneScape developer Jagex, which banned an astonishing 7.7 million bots in one week in October 2011. It was estimated that 98% of all bots were disabled and barred, at an average of 1.1 million each day!
