Pre-dating Pit-Fighter (Atari Games, 1990) by roughly two years, Homedata's relatively obscure arcade fighter Last Apostle Puppet Show, aka Reikai Doshi: Chinese Exorcist (1988) featured digitized claymation puppets as its character sprites. The site hardcoregaming101 wrote of its innovative aesthetics: "Without a doubt, Last Apostle Puppet Show is the most high-end looking fighting game to be released prior to Street Fighter II."

It is also the first game to feature claymation graphics.
