Arnošt Petráček (Czech Republic) swam 50 m backstroke in 41.63 seconds in Berlin, Germany, on 7 July 2017. It was the second time in three months that the 2016 Paralympic champion had set a new best for the event – his time of 42.22 seconds on 30 April 2017 had broken a record that had previously stood for nine years.

Petráček – who has no humerus bones in his arms owing to phocomelia syndrome, and luxated (dislocated) knee joints – competes in the S4 category, for swimmers with a variety of physical impairments.
