The farthest javelin throw by a male athlete in the F52 category is 18.58 metres by Peter Martin (New Zealand) in Assen, the Netherlands, on 6 September 2006. The farthest throw in the F53 category is 24.30 metres and was achieved by Alphanso Cunningham (Jamaica) in Lyon, France, on 26 July 2013. Both athletes – Cunningham in the F53 class and Martin in the F52 category – are wheelchair-bound and throw the javelin from a seated position.
