Alexey Ashapatov (Russia) won the final of the men's F57/F58 discus event at the Paralympic Games in London, UK, with a throw of 60.72 metres on 31 August 2012. Ashapatov competes in the F58 classification, for field athletes who throw from a seated position. In the similar F57 category, Weihai Zheng (China) is the world record-holder with 49.09 metres, which he achieved at the Paralympic Games in Beijing, China, on 13 September 2008.
