The fastest run 100 m by a female para-athlete in the T44 category is 12.72 seconds, achieved twice by Irmgard Bensusan (Germany, b. South Africa): on 24 May 2019 at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland, and equalled on 21 June 2019 at the Bayer Invitational Meeting in Leverkusen, Germany.
Bensusan also ran a T44 200 m world record in Leverkusen, on the same day she equalled her 100 m record. Her right leg is paralysed below the knee, the result of a torn nerve she sustained while competing in a hurdles race in 2009.
