The smallest country to win Olympic gold by population is Bermuda with a population of 62,278, when Flora Duffy (Bermuda) won the triathlon, in Tokyo, Japan, on 27 July 2021.


Bermuda became the smallest country to win gold at the Olympics at the Tokyo 2020 games, they are not however the smallest country to win a medal as Alessandra Perelli took bronze for San Marino in trap shooting at the same Olympics.
