Lin Dan (China) became the first man to win back-to-back singles titles at the Olympic Games when he defeated Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) 15-21, 21-10, 21-19 at Wembley Arena, London, UK, on 5 August 2012.
Lin Dan, 28, a left-hander, was the badminton world number one at the time of his victory in London.
