Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (France) beat Milos Raonic (Canada) 6-3, 3-6, 25-23 in 3 hr 57 min in the second round of the men's singles at Wimbledon, London, UK, on 31 July 2012. The 180-minute third set lasted 48 games - the longest set of tennis at the Olympic Games, both in terms of duration and games played. Only the five-set, 76-game, second round match between Gordon Lowe (UK, 1884-1972) and Augustos Zerlendis (Greece, 1886-1954) at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp, Belgium, featured more games than the Tsonga-Raonic encounter. Lowe won 14-12, 8-10, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. All Olympic tennis matches, other than the men’s final, are now played over the best of three sets, so the Tsonga-Raonic match is the longest three-set match in Olympic history.
