Kim Rhode (USA) won her third Olympic shooting gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games. After claiming gold medals in the double trap (no longer an Olympic event) at Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004, Rhode won her third gold in the skeet at the London 2012 Olympic Games on 29 July.
Before London 2012, Rhode shared the record of two Olympic shooting gold medals with four women: Marina Logvinenko (Russia) - who shares the record for the most Olympic shooting medals won by a female (5) with Rhode - Renata Mauer-Różańska (Poland), Maria Grozdeva (Bulgaria) and Guo Wenjun (China). Logvinenko won gold medals in the 10 m air pistol and the 25 m pistol in 1992 (representing the Unified Team), Mauer-Różańska in the 10 m air rifle in 1996 and the 50 m rifle three positions in 2000, Grozdeva in the 25 m pistol in 2000 and 2004, and Wenjun in the 10 m air pistol in 2008 and 2012.
