At 38 years 243 days, Ryan Giggs (UK, b. 29 November 1973) became the oldest outfield Olympic football player when he captained Team GB against the United Arab Emirates at Wembley Stadium, London, UK, on 29 July 2012 during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Team GB won the match 3-1 with goals from Giggs, Scott Sinclair and Daniel Sturridge. With his headed goal, Giggs also became the oldest player to score a goal in the Olympic football tournament.
