On 13 June 2010, the unmanned spacecraft Hayabusa (Japan) landed on Earth with its cargo of tiny grains of material collected from the surface of the asteroid Itokawa. It was the first spacecraft to lift off from an asteroid and the farthest land-and-return sample mission launched.
