The fastest circumnavigation swim around Manhattan Island (male) is 5 hr 32 min 14 sec, achieved by Andreas Waschburger (Germany) on 15 June 2026, as ratified by New York Open Water (NYOW).
The "20 Bridges" swim covers c. 45.9 km (28.5 mi) starting and ending at Mill Rock.
This improved on the mark of 5 hr 34 min 58 sec, achieved by David Olvera (Mexico) on 26 June 2025.
By completing this swim, Waschburger also achieved the fastest aggregate time to complete the Triple Crown of open-water swimming, which also comprises the English Channel (6 hr 45 min 25 sec on 8 September 2023) and the Catalina Channel off California, USA (7 hr 57 min 40 sec on 1 November 2025), for a total time of 20 hr 15 min 19 sec.
The former Olympian already holds the distinction of swimming the Oceans Seven in the fastest cumulative time: 49 hr 37 min 45 sec, between 8 September 2023 (English Channel) and 4 September 2025 (North Channel).
