Gábor Rakonczay (Hungary) crossed the Atlantic Ocean, east to west, in his 7.5-m-long (24.61-ft) canoe after 76 days at sea. He set off from Lagos, in southern Portugal, on 21 December 2011 and, after stopping off at Las Palmas in the Canary Islands to rest and gather supplies, continued his onward journey on 25 January 2012, arriving at the Caribbean island of Antigua, Leeward Islands, West Indies, on 25 March 2012.
