"I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston (USA, 1963–2012) topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 consecutive weeks, from 28 November 1992 to 27 February 1993. "I Will Always Love You", written by country singer Dolly Parton (USA), appeared on the soundtrack to the film The Bodyguard (USA, 1992), in which Whitney Houston made her acting debut. The single also holds the record for the longest consecutive stay at No.1 by a solo female on the UK singles chart. "We Belong Together" by Mariah Carey also spent 14 weeks at No.1 on the Hot 100, but non-consecutively (four weeks from 4 to 25 June 2005 and a further 10 weeks from 9 July to 10 September 2005). For 10 weeks of this record-breaking chart run, from 5 December 1992 to 6 February 1993, "I Will Always Love You" was at the top of both the US and the UK singles charts.
