Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles set a modern-day (post-1900) Major League Baseball (MLB) record for a non-pitcher by going hitless in 54 consecutive at bats over the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The streak started on 15 September 2018 and ended with a single against the Boston Red Sox on 13 April 2019. Davis broke the record of 46 straight at-bats that belonged to Eugenio Velez (Dominican Republic) of the Los Angeles Dodgers over the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
