The Luge World Cup was instituted in 1977 and is a season-long competition consisting of a series of events with an overall points standing. Geisenberger claimed the 2020/21 women’s singles title only four months after returning to competition following the birth of her child. She won two races and finished runner-up nine times. Geisenberger is only the second luger in history to win seven consecutive World Cup titles, after Markus Prock in 1990/91–1996/97.
