First British artist to sell one million digital copies of a single in UK

Boosted by her show-stopping performance at the 2011 BRIT Awards, Adele’s (b. Adele Adkins) “Someone Like You”, from the record-shattering album 21, was the first ever single by a British artist to amass digital sales of one million domestically, a feat accomplished on 5 July 2011 - 162 days after its release. The UK’s biggest-selling single of 2011 (and the first million-seller of the decade) had shifted 1.24 million units overall by the end of the year. The track was not available on CD.
