In March 2002 UK scientist Kevin Warwick had a 100-electrode array implanted into the median nerve fibres of his left arm. A second, simpler implant was surgically added to Kevin’s wife, Irena and the two implants communicated over the internet, allowing Kevin to feel signals directly from Irena’s implant.
