First scientific investigation into 'tin foil hats'

Many conspiracy theorists believe that a hat made from aluminium foil can protect the human brain from telepathic interference by their own governments and other groups, such as aliens. The concept first emerged in "The Tissue-Culture King" by Julian Huxley in 1927. In 2005 a group of graduate students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, released the results of their experiments on three designs of foil hat and concluded that foil hats can actually amplify radio signals at some frequencies which are controlled by the US Government.
