Skylab was a US space station launched on 14 May 1973. It consisted of a third-stage booster from a Saturn V rocket converted into living and working space and was occupied by three crews of three astronauts each until February 1974. Its comparatively large interior volume allowed the use of a space shower. Users stood inside a ring on the floor and the lifted a circular curtain which attached to the ceiling. A hose would then spray 2.8 litres of water for each use, which had to be collected afterwards using a vacuum.
