Since 1839, the Taylor bell foundry has been casting bells at its site in the town of Loughborough, United Kingdom. The foundry occupies half of a 10,000-square-metre (107,600 square foot) site, the rest of which is devoted to the Taylor Museum of bell casting and tuning. The foundry is responsible for casting many famous bells, including Great Paul, the largest bell in St Paul's Cathedral, London, UK, which is also the largest bell in the UK, weighing 17,002 kg (37,483 lb).
The art of casting and tuning bells has been maintained by the foundry up to the present day, where even the rock band AC/DC commissioned a set of 'Hells Bells' for their Back to Black tour in 1980. The foundry remains the largest of its kind in the world.
