Grupo Modelo have built a bottling factory near the Mexican border that is now the world's largest automated factory. A complex control and management system utilizes 37 individual robots to achieve production capabilities of 6,000 cans per hour on a canning line, along with a further three bottling lines that provide a capacity of 144,000 bottles per hour to give a total bottling capacity of 10 million hectolitres a year. Alongside the bottling robots, automated transport trolleys use lasers to guide the trolley around the plant. Including all of the additional handling robots, the number of individual robots totals more than 50. The plant cost a total of $520 million, and reached full production capacity in 2011.
